About
My work explores themes of spirituality, infinity, connection, and movement, drawing inspiration from mysticism. Meditation, consciousness, and sunyata (nothingness) influence my paintings, which attempt to capture sensations beyond material form. This challenge creates tension, reflected in the dynamic, often repetitive brushstrokes. Shifting between ethereal and physical planes, my work examines the duality of human existence while also exploring ideas of oneness and interconnectedness, influenced by Theosophy.
Despite these expansive themes, the dense application of paint and texture grounds the work in materiality. Rather than acting as sacred icons, the paintings invite an internal journey, encouraging personal interpretation and connection. Movement—both physical and mental—plays a central role, as does the continuous exchange of energy. My process is driven by an instinctive pursuit of the ‘force of life,’ requiring a balance between control and spontaneity. By allowing automatic movement to coexist with moments of stillness, I explore the space between body and spirit, knowing and remembering, and other intangible sensations.
The canvas is often turned mid-process to reset intuition, and multiple layers of paint build upon each other—some wiped away, some left behind as remnants of past gestures. Each layer holds emotion, applied with varying speed and opacity, documenting the rhythm of thought and movement. Through this process, I seek to quiet the analytical mind, making space for deeper, more elusive experiences to surface. With time, the image distills into something both simple and open-ended, offering glimpses into presence, chaos, stillness, and raw energy.
